DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Higher on Average
DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is
slightly higher versus one week ago.

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains
(DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended April 24 was up $1 on
average versus one week ago at $155 per ton.
DDG prices were mixed for the week, but up $1 on average. Ethanol plant
production was higher last week but heading into spring maintenance season we
could see that weaken. Soybean meal was lower for the week and cash corn prices
were slightly lower for the week, with the DTN National Average Corn Index down
3 cents versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative
to corn for the week ended April 24 was 0.909%. The value of DDG relative to
soybean meal was 53.69% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.74
compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.08.
U.S. Grains Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles
(DDGS) May export market prices report, showed that as of April 24, CIF NOLA
barge price was up $5 at $224 metric ton (mt); FOB vessel Gulf price was down
$2 at $230 mt; rail delivered PNW was up $3 at $253; and rail delivered to
California was up $2 at $248 mt.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported for the week ending
April 18, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.033
million bpd, up 21,000 bpd week-on-week and 79,000 bpd, or 7.6% higher than in
the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.032 million bpd was
15,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production
averaged 976,000 bpd, up 21,000 bpd week-on-week and 73,000 bpd, or 7.5% higher
than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 977,000 bpd was
12,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
